Covers along the watchtower

En 1967, Bob Dylan publicó en su disco John Wesley Harding una canción llamada "All along the Watchtower". Un año más tarde, Jimi Hendrix la versionó y la hizo famosa. Más recientemente Eric Clapton y Lenny Kravitz homenajearon a Hendrix haciendo una versión de la versión de este (en la que por cierto, Clapton esta magnífico). Son muchos más los que han versioneado esta canción, entre ellos algunos grandes como Neil Young o Michael Hedges.

Todo este camino recorrido para llegar a la actualidad y que un genio, Dave Matthews, y su banda sean capaces de darle una nueva personalidad, y de crear una versión apoteósica.



La letra:

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.
